Portree Free Church

Our Ministries

Sunday Services

11 am and 6 pm at Portree Primary School (from 06/03/22 evening services will be at the Skye Camanachd clubhouse). Services are also available as a live stream on the church Facebook page.

Our ‘core activity’ as a church is the worship of God. In our worship we keep things simple; we focus on praise, prayer, and preaching. In our praise we sing mainly psalms. Prayer at our Sunday services is usually led by the person preaching that day. The message lasts about 20-25mins and is always Bible based.

We always have a children’s talk during the morning service.

Prayer Meetings

We believe that God hears and answers prayer. Every week we meet for prayer but we also encourage informal times of prayer and private prayer.

Wednesday 7.30 pm at Portree Primary School (since the start of the pandemic this has been via Zoom, please get in touch if you would like the link)

Prayer Triplets

A network of prayer triplets ensures that every area of need is prayed for.

Pastoral Visitation

The minister and elders have formal responsibility to pastor the congregation but we encourage the whole church family to care for one another.

The minister is involved in both the Primary School and the High School as a school Chaplain. He is also the Chaplain to Portree Hospital and Skye Camanachd.

Ladies Bible Study

Every second Thursday morning and evening at various homes (or via Zoom since the pandemic).

At theĀ  Ladies Bible Study, a number of women get together in each others houses to talk about the Bible.

Mens Meeting

Not to be out done, the men also meet informally for fellowship. The men’s meetings tend to be more topic led and the Bible’s teaching is related to current issues and events.
